Chief Inspector Bill Lardner said luckily there was no one injured or inside the home at the time.

He also said there is nothing to suggest the attack was related to the bungled robbery in which a man was shot dead by security guards in Parramatta on Tuesday night.

Fire crews attended and say the car was alight when they arrived.

They extinguished the blaze quickly, but said the vehicle was extensively damaged.

Police closed the street and searched for clues, finding several bullet casings.

Police also recorded statements from neighbours.

Two men standing outside the home in front of a red Honda Civic were assisting police with their enquiries.

Specialist forensic services officers were also investigating

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
