Vet falls victim to Hendra virus

REDLANDS Veterinary Clinic worker Ben Cunneen has died after contracting the rare Hendra Virus last month. Queensland Health confirmed the news this morning.

Brisbane Southside Population Health Unit medical officer Dr Brad McCall said Dr Cunneen had received intensive specialist medical treatment in a Brisbane hospital since testing positive to the virus in July.

“Our deepest sympathy is extended to the person’s family, friends and work colleagues,” he said.
