MIRUSIA Louwerse showed students and staff of Faith Lutheran College at Victoria Point last week why she is world class.
The star sporano sang You'll Never Walk Alone to a mesmerised audience when she returned to her old school for a guest appearance.
Mirusia has established a world following following her popular performances with acclaimed viol- inist Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Head of Middle School at Faith Deb Osland, who was one of Mirusia's former teachers said it was wonderful to welcome the singer back to Faith.
"In the past 11 years, Mirusia has developed from a young student who loved singing to a beautiful woman whose singing is inspiring people all over the world," she said.
Music students and student leaders from the Junior, Middle and Senior schools heard the story of her rise to fame, from an ambitious student at Faith to an international star.
She talked about her touring with Andre Rieu and how singing was always her goal.
Mirusia spoke about the difficult decisions and sacrifices had to be made in order to make it happen.
She spoke about travelling the world and performing with famous musicians at legendary venues.
A special connection was renewed when a surprise guest from the USA, Christine Matthias (nee Smyth), Mirusia's Year 3 teacher and choir leader at Faith, arrived.
Mirusia said: "Miss Smyth always encouraged me to reach for the stars."
"I had a lovely time coming back to Faith and hope I was able to encourage students to follow their dreams," Mirusia said.
