ROPE skipper Luke Boon, is again on top of the world.
The 17-year-old Ormiston College student, who is a member of Cleveland Air Magic, has returned home from the International Rope Skipping Federation (FISAC) world championships in South Africa with the title of Number 1 male skipper in the world.
Against tough competition in Cape Town, Luke retained his World Men's Rope Skipping Champion title from 2006 and, in reaching his goal, set another world record in triple unders and still holds the world record from 2006 in three-minute speed.
Luke also combined with teammates Jake Eve, Kirstin Morris, Aimee Devlin and Bonnie Somers to take gold in the 18-plus open mixed teams division against some very tough competition from Europe, the United Kingdom and United States.
Luke's success was just one of many highlights for Cleveland Air Magic members, who made up the majority of the Australian rope skipping team.
In the 12-17 category, the team of Emily Edmunds, Jenna Frampton, Elewys Gatehouse, Caitlin Greenway and Emma Pinto claimed overall bronze in the single rope division, won gold in a speed relay event and took silver in the pair routine.
The team of Naomi Devlin, Brittany Gardiner, Jacky Robba, Jodie Mulcahy and Nicole Krause also claimed the bronze medal in the single rope events in the 18-plus category.
At the lead-up South African International contest, in the 18-plus age group, Naomi Devlin was crowned overall champion and Nicole Krause received bronze.
Elewys Gatehouse was crowned overall champion in the 15-17 age group.
Air Magic's 14 and under team, made up of Maddy Barker, Bridgette Logan, Shania Warrender, Monique Hay and Teagan Barrett, was overall champion at single rope and double dutch events.
In the 13-14 age group, Emily Edmunds was overall champion, Caitlin Greenway was a bronze medallist overall and Bridgette Logan took silver for her individual speed event.
In the 10-12 age group, Emma Pinto was crowned overall champion and Maddy Barker came second in her freestyle event.
